U.S. Senators from both parties will unveil a bill aimed at countering Chinese sales of artificial intelligence tools overseas.
The legislation, sponsored by Democrat Jeanne Shaheen and Republican Pete Ricketts, would create an office within the State Department to subsidize allied governments' purchases of American technology.
A $500 million fund would be established to finance the program, which seeks to reduce dependence on China and strengthen cooperation among allies.
The bill supports the Trump administration's "Pax Silica" initiative, which aims to secure access to critical minerals and other key AI supply chain inputs.
