Sodik Toshboyev, Chairman of the Religious Affairs Committee of Uzbekistan, presented key proposals at the first meeting of heads of religious bodies of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member countries in Shusha.
Toshboyev emphasized the urgent need to combat radicalism, extremism, dogmatism, and illegal religious education. He proposed creating a working group of representatives from OTS member states' religious authorities to address the spread of fanaticism via the internet among Turkic peoples.
Second, offline and online education programs for OTS youth at Uzbekistan's higher and religious educational institutions have been planned. Third, short-term internships at scientific centers in Uzbekistan are offered.
The fourth proposal focuses on pilgrimage tourism and promoting shared heritage, while the fifth proposes creating a unified scientific resource and an encyclopedic book.
