Singer Jamil Mammadli was a guest on Baku TV's program "Qapqara".
Speaking about stereotypical approaches to religion, Jamil Mammadli characterized faith as a holistic lifestyle beyond formal frameworks:
"We love to box everything in, and some people perceive religion as a sect. However, a Japanese person living by the principles of cleanliness and honesty that God has ordained actually leads a Muslim life, just hasn't recited the shahada. Regarding my own spiritual path, I started praying at age 12-13. At 18, I faced some doubts and questions, but unlike many, I didn't stop worshiping. On the contrary, I continued my path, researched, and found answers to all my questions."
He also shared memories of his late father:
"My father and I had a very close friendship. Yet he maintained a veil of respect so beautifully that neither I overstepped my bounds nor he became childish. He was a professor and knew everything in its place. He never forbade me from smoking or drinking, but he raised me in such a way that I always viewed them as meaningless."
