Marcia Lucas, editor of the original "Star Wars" trilogy and ex-wife of director George Lucas, has died at the age of 80.
According to Oxu.Az, this was reported by "The Sun".
"Marcia was a force, a true pioneer for women in cinema, and one of the most influential editors in film history. She helped redefine what film editing could be and paved the way for generations of women who followed," the statement said.
Marcia Lucas won the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" in 1977.
Besides "Star Wars", she edited Martin Scorsese's "New York, New York" and "Taxi Driver," earning a BAFTA nomination. She later stepped away from her active career to focus on family but provided informal consultation on the final edit of "Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark."
