Access to TikTok has been blocked in schools, and students' internet access is now filtered. Resources related to terrorism, extremism, drugs, and other dangerous topics are restricted. Overall, filtering is applied to over 200 risky subjects.
Oxu.Az reports that Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov stated this during a joint meeting of the Milli Majlis committees on Human Rights, Family, Women and Children, and Legal Policy and State Building, discussing proposed amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses and laws on "Information, Informatization and Information Protection" and "Protection of Children from Harmful Information."
"International experience shows that there is no simple solution to limiting children's access to social networks. On one hand, problematic use of social networks is associated with depression, anxiety, aggression, and other negative outcomes. On the other hand, social networks create communication opportunities, provide a platform for public participation, help obtain social support, and allow various groups to express their opinions. Therefore, the main task is to ensure children's safety while enabling them to benefit from the opportunities of the digital world. This is only possible through the joint efforts of government agencies, technology companies, schools, parents, and children," the deputy minister added.
