More than half of the world's population lives in cities. By 2050, this will reach 68 percent. This was stated by Vusal Huseynov, head of the Azerbaijan State Migration Service.
Speaking at a WUF13 event, Huseynov highlighted the link between migration and cities. He said migration is a key driver of global transformation.
“Cities are where migration is felt. Urbanization and migration are interconnected. Problems must be solved in parallel,” he noted.
Huseynov emphasized that governments invest in technical modernization. But the human factor is the most important issue. Human capital, innovation and cooperation are the basis of development.
Azerbaijan prioritizes innovation, inclusiveness and rights-based approaches in migration policy. The country is attractive due to mechanisms supporting migrant integration.
