Bulgarian President Iliyana Yotova spoke at the WUF13 Leaders Summit about the impact of climate change on migration.
She noted that the world has long viewed migration as a threat, but it is a reality that we must be prepared for.
A prepared city helps people be citizens, workers, and part of society, while an unprepared one leads to isolation and informality.
Beyond wars, climate change is becoming a serious cause of migration due to droughts, water scarcity, rising sea levels, and land degradation.
Bulgaria faces challenges like aging population, internal migration, regional depopulation, and growing inequality.
Young families lack housing opportunities and a sense of perspective, she added.
Yotova called for global knowledge and experience sharing, emphasizing that common problems require common solutions.
