Bazarduzu incident: Federation issues statement

The Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation has issued a statement regarding the injury of climber Altay Jafarov near the Bazarduzu peak.

The Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation has commented on the incident where climber Altay Jafarov fell from a cliff and was injured near the Bazarduzu peak.

Federation Secretary General Sanan Rasulov told Oxu.Az that the hike was not organized by the federation: "The hike was carried out by a group of amateurs on their own initiative. According to initial information, the accident was caused by carelessness."

S. Rasulov noted that since the incident, the federation leadership has been in constant contact with the participants: "Other members of the group were present at the scene. Their presence allowed for prompt first aid and evacuation."
