Mubariz Aslanov, a journalist who has seen the face of war from Bakhmut to Kyiv. His report criticizes Ukraine's leadership personnel policy against the backdrop of Azerbaijan's aid.
On February 3, 2023, Bakhmut was half-occupied by Russian forces. Mubariz and officer Yuri were on a dangerous road. Yuri said: “Your hard work is valuable for Ukraine. Let people in Azerbaijan know too.”
Back in Kyiv, Mubariz met Zelensky's press secretary Sergey Nikiforov. When he requested an interview, he got a harsh reply: “Ukraine's priority is not your region.” Mubariz responded: “You speak on behalf of the Ukrainian people, I hope you will be accountable.”
Later, a new advisor Dmitry Litvin appeared. He was known for controversial statements like “Ukraine doesn't need an army.” Journalists criticized him and left Ukraine.
In the winter of 2026, Azerbaijan sent another energy aid shipment. Zelensky thanked. Mubariz thought: “Either he is unlucky, or the Ukrainian people are unlucky.”
