Turki Al-Sheikh, head of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, plans to make a major investment in English football.
According to the "Daily Mail", his main target is the historic club Derby County.
The Arab official's delegation has already begun preliminary talks with the club's current owner, David Clowes.
The potential blockbuster deal is currently under serious scrutiny by England's Independent Football Regulator (IFR). The body must verify whether Turki Al-Sheikh fully meets the new requirements for club owners and directors.
The most notable aspect is that Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) already owns a controlling stake in Newcastle United. The regulator must ensure Al-Sheikh's potential investment in Derby County does not cause any conflict of interest in English football.
