Iran's national football team has traveled to the Canadian visa center in Ankara with its full squad. Meanwhile, several players have applied for entry to the United States.
According to Oxu.Az citing Reuters, Iran's group stage matches will be held in Inglewood, California (June 15 against New Zealand, June 21 against Belgium) and Seattle (June 26 against Egypt).
If the team advances to the playoffs, they will continue their campaign in Canada.
Those who applied for U.S. visas in Turkey are players who could not obtain them before the U.S. military operations against Iran began on February 28.
After the start of military operations with the U.S. and Israel, Iran's football championship was suspended. Some players called up to the national team have been without match practice for seven weeks.
Currently, Iran's national team is preparing for the World Cup in Antalya. A friendly match against Gambia is scheduled for May 29.
It is worth recalling that Mehdi Taj, head of the Iran Football Federation, stated in mid-May that the team still hasn't received U.S. visas and that this issue will be discussed with FIFA.
