Minnesota prosecutors have charged a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent with assault in connection with the January shooting of a Venezuelan immigrant in Minneapolis.
Christian Castro, 53, faces four felony counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and a misdemeanor for falsely reporting a crime, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty announced.
ICE and the Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Castro is the second federal agent charged by Minneapolis officials amid President Trump's immigration crackdown. The incident left Venezuelan immigrant Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis shot in the leg and two U.S. citizens fatally shot by federal agents.
In February, a senior ICE official said two agents appeared to have lied about events leading to the shooting.
