Burkina Faso, which has severed diplomatic ties with France, has given Paris seven days from June 26 to close its embassy in Ouagadougou.
According to Oxu.Az, this information was reported by Le Monde, citing its sources.
The French ambassador left Burkina Faso in January 2023, and since then, a charge d'affaires has been fulfilling duties. Around 20 people worked at the diplomatic mission.
Burkina Faso's decision is linked to a European Parliament resolution condemning the suppression of fundamental freedoms in the country.
On June 27, the Burkinabe government accused France of neocolonialism, supporting terrorist networks in the Sahel, and distorting events in the country, leading to the severance of diplomatic relations.
France's Foreign Ministry said it is considering possible responses.
