France's Ministry of Culture security services were aware of the museum's weaknesses but conducted no inspections before the major theft. This was stated in a report by a parliamentary commission.
According to Oxu.Az, the document was prepared after the sensational robbery at the world's largest museum in autumn 2025. The security, protection and audit service carried out no checks until the theft on October 19.
After the museum opened, criminals entered and stole nine jewelry items, including tiaras, earrings, necklaces, and brooches belonging to French queens and empresses. The damage is estimated at 88 million euros.
Several people have been detained, five have been charged, but the stolen items have not yet been found.
