Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called the framework agreement with Lebanon a "blow to Iran."
According to Ynet, Netanyahu said that despite Tehran's demands, Israeli troops will not withdraw from southern Lebanon for security reasons.
The prime minister noted that the long negotiations had yielded positive results: "The most important thing is that Israel remains in the security zone in southern Lebanon. This is a great achievement, and we will maintain it until Hezbollah is disarmed."
Netanyahu added: "This is also a serious blow to Iran. In fact, Israel, Lebanon and the United States are telling them that this is not their business."
He also mentioned the creation of two pilot zones in southern Lebanon and allowing the Lebanese army to prepare to take control of the area.
On June 26, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, along with Israeli and Lebanese diplomats, presented a framework document as the result of five-stage negotiations. Officials believe the signed document will pave the way for peace in the region after the conflict between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah.
