A framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon has been signed. The document provides for the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon.
According to information published by the US State Department, the parties intend to end the conflict. The Lebanese Armed Forces will restore control over the entire country.
The agreement also includes the disarmament of non-governmental groups. This will facilitate the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
Details of the process will be included in an addendum prepared with US support. Security measures and verification mechanisms will be agreed upon.
Two zones have been identified, but the areas have not been named. Lebanon has reaffirmed its commitment to full restoration of sovereignty.
It is worth recalling that the agreement was signed on June 26 in Washington. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the document.
