The health of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, 52, has sharply declined. Diagnosed with dangerous pulmonary fibrosis in 2018, she now awaits a donor organ.
The Royal Palace officially announced that the future queen has been placed on the transplant waiting list, as reported by El Pais citing the palace statement.
Doctors assess her condition as critical. Due to the exacerbation, the crown princess cannot continue her work or attend official events.
Her husband, Crown Prince Haakon, cut short his trip to Japan to be by her side. Their 22-year-old daughter, Ingrid, urgently returned from Australia to provide emotional support. The family has postponed their silver wedding anniversary celebrations. Additionally, Haakon will not participate in ceremonies in Stockholm.
It is noted that Mette-Marit recently appeared in public only with an oxygen mask. The monarch himself had previously admitted great concern as the princess's condition worsens.
