Dusty Ray Spenser, 74, has been executed in Florida, becoming the oldest inmate executed in the state's modern history.
Spenser was convicted of murdering his wife, Karen Spenser, in 1992.
The execution was carried out by lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Stark. Officials administered a three-drug cocktail.
In his final words, Spenser apologized to his family: "I apologize to my family. I give my spirit and heart into your hands, I'm on my way, Lord. Amen."
Spenser's family made no statement after the execution. This was the ninth execution in Florida this year.
