A school district in Kentucky, USA, has secured approximately $27 million in compensation from tech giants Meta, TikTok, and YouTube.
The district comprises only six schools with about 1,600 students. The lawsuit alleged that social media algorithms increase mental health issues among teenagers.
Under the settlement, Meta paid $9 million, Snap and TikTok each paid $8 million, and YouTube paid $2 million. None of the companies admitted liability.
