In Yekaterinburg, Russia, the trial of Vidadi Mustafayev, former head of the Azerbaijani diaspora, has begun. He is accused of fraud.
Victims claim they gave him large sums to solve their problems, but he provided no help. Mustafayev denies the allegations.
He was detained in December 2025 after Novruz Sadatov filed a complaint. Sadatov reported embezzlement of 16 million rubles and a Porsche car.
On June 22, the indictment was read and Sadatov was interrogated. Other victims include Boyliyev and Pankratov. Mustafayev allegedly defrauded them of 700,000 and over 5 million rubles.
A source said Mustafayev claimed connections in law enforcement, which were false. He used the money for personal purposes.
Mustafayev claims he is being slandered and never took money from anyone.
Investigators are looking into several similar cases against Mustafayev. Agroprodukt company has also filed a complaint. The process is stalling.
