Swedish authorities have detained another crew member of the tanker "Sea Owl I," which was carrying Russian nationals. The individual is reported to be the new captain of the vessel and a Georgian citizen.
According to RIA Novosti, the Swedish coast guard had previously detained another sailor from the same ship.
On March 12, the Swedish coast guard inspected the tanker on suspicion of sailing under a false flag in Swedish territorial waters.
Built in 2007, the 228-meter-long "Sea Owl I" has been used in recent years to transport oil products between Russia and Brazil. The tanker left Santos, Brazil, empty and was heading to Primorsk.
The tanker, which is under EU sanctions, sails under the flag of Cameroon. However, when asked by Sweden, Cameroon did not confirm that the vessel belonged to it.
Earlier, a Russian captain had been detained but later released.
