The 65th International Flower Festival in Namangan, Uzbekistan, has entered the Guinness World Records. Over 29.4 million flowers were planted for the festival.
According to Oxu.Az citing TASS, the festival will last about two months and is expected to attract nearly five million visitors.
Use of machinery was banned during planting. While Guinness required a minimum of one million flowers, the Namangan administration planted 29,406,384 flowers in one month, setting a record.
Guinness official judge Şeyda Subaşı said: "Through magnificent coordination and a common goal, Namangan has become a symbol of flowers, unity, and excellence."
The Flower Festival has been held annually since 1961, gaining international status in 2018. It runs from May 24 to July 12.
About 150 events are planned, including conferences, forums, fairs, concerts, and drone shows. Namangan is the second-largest city in Uzbekistan after Tashkent.
