The popular belief that sleeping on the left side is the healthiest sleeping position is wrong.
Russian neurophysiologist Fadi Hallal said this in an interview with Spain's "Hola" magazine.
The doctor explained that sleeping on the left side is only beneficial in certain cases, such as late pregnancy or gastroesophageal reflux (when stomach contents flow back into the esophagus).
According to Hallal, there is no universal sleeping position suitable for everyone.
"The best position is the one that allows you to rest well and wake up without pain," the neurophysiologist noted.
He emphasized the importance of individually choosing a sleeping position based on how you feel in the morning.
