Two separate car accidents early this morning in Baku have left traffic lights and control boxes damaged at two key junctions.

According to the Intelligent Traffic Management Center (NIIM) under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the first crash occurred at the intersection of 8 Noyabr Avenue and Khaqani Rustamov Street in the Khatai district.

The impact destroyed a traffic light and its control box, causing all nearby signals to go dark. Authorities have started installing new equipment, but until the work is complete, a portable traffic light will regulate traffic.

A similar incident was reported on the Zabrat-Mashtaga road in the Sabunchu district, where another traffic light was knocked out. A mobile signal has been deployed there as well.

Baku traffic accidents prompted NIIM to issue a reminder to drivers: When traffic lights are out and no officer is directing, the intersection is considered uncontrolled. Motorists must follow Article 77 of the Law on Road Traffic.
