Azerbaijan is set to implement new regulations concerning food products passing through customs. The proposed changes focus on food items, animal feed, and materials that come into contact with food.
According to Oxu.Az, the amendment draft to the Customs Code includes this proposal. Under current legislation, customs release of goods occurs immediately after the declarant or authorized person fulfills conditions and confirms no prohibitions or restrictions.
The new draft suggests adding provisions that subject food products, feed, and food-contact materials to state control measures in the field of food safety, as per the "Food Safety Law".
The aim is to enhance safety standards for imported goods and protect consumers. The effective date of the new rules has not been announced yet.
