The State Fire Control Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has suspended the operation of a wholesale food store in Baku's Khatai district following a routine inspection. The inspection revealed serious violations of fire safety regulations.

According to the MES, the store lacked a fully installed automatic fire alarm system, and the existing system was malfunctioning. Electrical installations did not meet the required standards, and cable connections were not secured with proper clamps or welding.

Additional violations included the use of damaged electrical equipment, cables laid over flammable materials, insufficient fire extinguishers, blocked evacuation routes, missing evacuation plans, lack of fire-resistant treatment for wooden structures, uncleared waste, and absent illuminated “Exit” signs. The property was also not insured as required by law.

The MES warned that under such conditions, any fire could quickly escalate into a tragedy. Therefore, the store's operation was halted, and a copy of the decision was handed to the store representative.
