According to international organizations, Azerbaijan will be among 35 countries suffering from water scarcity by 2050. This highlights the need for a resource-based approach in the transformation of the agricultural sector.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zaur Aliyev stated at a press conference that the State Program aims to increase modern irrigation areas from 130,000 hectares to 300,000 hectares.

He noted that land consolidation is also a key measure. Fragmented land plots will be consolidated and irrigation networks upgraded. Initially, measures will cover 20,000 hectares in two districts and continue until 2030.
