Rustam Gasimov, deputy chairman of Azərenerji, stated at WUF13 that electricity demand is expected to rise by 4 gigawatts over the next five years.

He noted that 1,500 MW of existing renewable capacity will be integrated into the grid. A 15 MW renewable capacity has already been connected.

A new energy storage system was launched in May. Currently, 500 MWh of energy is integrated into the grid, with plans to reach 1,000 MWh by the end of 2028.

Gasimov emphasized that traditional and renewable sources must be combined to meet demand. A new digital infrastructure and software have been implemented for this purpose.
