About 30% of the work on the Shah Deniz project has been completed.

This was stated by bp's regional president for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, Kio Kristofol, during the 31st Baku Energy Forum.

He announced that the first production well under the deep gas project at ACG was launched yesterday, with another well to be operational soon.

The transfer of operatorship of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline to SOCAR is proceeding on schedule. The contractual obligation takes effect on July 1, and bp is ready to fulfill it.

"This is a contractual obligation, not an asset sale. We are pleased to see SOCAR become the operator," Kristofol emphasized.
