President Ilham Aliyev approved the "State Program for the Development of Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture Products for 2026-2030", where irrigation and consolidation are key points.
Emin Aliyev, deputy chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Agriculture, stated this in an interview with Oxu.Az.
He noted that Azerbaijan faces not a land shortage, but a problem of fragmented and inefficiently used lands.
The program focuses on modern irrigation systems, land consolidation, closed networks, and enlarging farms. Aliyev said 60% of agricultural land is unusable. Small farms struggle with technology and productivity. Consolidation could be revolutionary.
