Azerbaijan plays a crucial role for Europe amid the risks of energy dependence on Russia.

Oxu.Az reports that these remarks were made by Kristina Lobillo Borrero, Director for Energy Security and International Relations at the European Commission, during discussions at the 31st Baku Energy Forum.

She stated that Azerbaijan holds strategic importance for Europe's energy security: "Azerbaijan is our strategic partner. We are also cooperating in the field of green energy. We are aware of Baku's plans regarding wind energy. We are interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in this area as well."
