Chicago Federal Reserve President Austan Goolsbee has escalated warnings that mounting expectations for AI's productivity potential could push inflation higher, forcing central banks to raise interest rates.

"The bigger the hype about future productivity, the more rates may need to rise to prevent overheating," Goolsbee said at a Bank of Japan conference.

He added that supply shocks, such as rising oil prices, worsen the problem.
