Flights from Kirkuk International Airport to Azerbaijan are expected to start in June.

According to Anadolu Agency, Iraqi Airways will soon operate its first flight to Azerbaijan.

Airport spokesperson Herdi Samed stated that while the exact date is not disclosed, flights on the Kirkuk-Baku route will begin no later than June.

It was noted that Iraq had closed its airspace after the US and Israel launched military operations against Iran on February 28.

Kirkuk International Airport was opened on October 16, 2022.
