The White House complex was placed on immediate lockdown Saturday evening after a sustained volley of gunshots near the North Lawn, according to reports.

The security incident occurred just after 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with approximately 15 to 30 shots fired near the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

White House correspondent Selina Wang posted video footage of the audible gunfire on social media. Media crews took cover before Secret Service personnel escorted journalists into the secure press briefing room.

According to Axios, law enforcement sources confirmed that Secret Service agents returned fire after being targeted. Two individuals—a suspect and a possible bystander—sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital. The suspect is in critical condition.

Federal authorities confirmed that President Donald Trump was present inside the White House at the time. Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said the agency is analyzing the perimeter around 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed federal agents are assisting investigators.
