Iran has prepared a mechanism to manage traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and plans to collect fees, the head of the Iranian parliament’s national security committee said.
Ebrahim Azizi said in a social media post that Iran has prepared a professional mechanism along a designated route, which will be unveiled soon.
Azizi said necessary fees will be collected, benefiting only commercial vessels and parties cooperating with Iran.
He added that the route will remain closed to the so-called “freedom project,” likely referring to Trump’s Project Freedom aimed at restoring commercial shipping in Hormuz.
Iran has effectively shut the channel since late February due to U.S.-Israeli hostilities, and has repeatedly hinted at controlling and charging for traffic.
