Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov spoke about the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline for his country.
Speaking at the Baku Energy Forum, the minister emphasized the need for more alternative transport routes to bring Caspian oil to international markets.
"We are connected to BTC, and it would not be rational not to use it. We are already using the existing infrastructure at full capacity," Akkenzhenov said.
He noted that Kazakhstan exports about 80% of its oil, with the European market being one of the main directions. The BTC system plays a key role with a capacity of about 25 million tons. Kazakhstan plans to utilize these additional opportunities in the near future.
