Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has taken the lead over opposition Senator Flavio Bolsonaro in a new presidential election poll. According to a Datafolha survey, Lula would secure 47% of votes in a second-round runoff, compared to 43% for Flavio.
This marks a shift from a May survey where the candidates were tied. Lula would also beat Michelle Bolsonaro 48% to 43% in a runoff.
In the first round, Lula has 40% support, followed by Flavio at 31%, Caiado at 4%, Zema at 3%, and Santos at 3%.
The change comes after reports linking Flavio to a disgraced banker.
