Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov stated that one of the main problems of Azerbaijan's energy system is limited interconnection with international energy networks.
Speaking at a panel discussion within the 31st Baku Energy Forum, Soltanov noted that the country's energy system is relatively small and lacks large-scale integration with neighboring countries' systems.
Currently, there is only one transmission line connecting with Russia. The connection with Georgia mainly helps balance their system.
The deputy minister emphasized that a small energy system needs strong external links. Developing interconnectors is crucial for exporting surplus energy and importing when there is a shortage.
