OpenAI has signed a deal with Malta's government to provide all residents with free access to ChatGPT Plus for one year after completing an AI course.
The program kicks off in May and is expected to expand as more residents finish the free course. Maltese citizens abroad are also eligible.
Economy Minister Silvio Schembri said the initiative turns AI into practical assistance for families, students, and workers.
Malta is the first country to launch such a program. Financial terms were not disclosed.
