SOCAR has identified the management and reduction of methane emissions as a key goal. This was stated by Hikmat Abdullayev, deputy assistant to the vice-president of SOCAR, during a panel discussion at the 31st International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition.
Abdullayev noted that special attention has been paid to this area recently: "We have identified tools and methodologies for reducing methane emissions, which will be implemented with the help of modern technologies."
He added that detecting and eliminating gas leaks is one of the most effective and fastest ways to reduce methane emissions: "These measures are usually simpler and are considered both operationally and commercially efficient."
