The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will open a representative office in Uzbekistan.
Oxu.Az reports, citing "Report", that the press service of the President of Uzbekistan disseminated this information.
According to the information, today President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received SOCAR head Rovshan Najaf, as well as BP top managers Ariel Flores and Giovanni Cristofolini, who came to the country to participate in the "Uzbekistan Energy Week - 2026" forum.
"The parties considered issues of expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. The existence of successful cooperation in the energy sector was noted with satisfaction. SOCAR is Uzbekistan's partner in the implementation of the project for the development of hydrocarbon fields on the Ustyurt plateau. A decision was made to open a SOCAR representative office in Uzbekistan. The joining of the British company British Petroleum to this large-scale project was highly appreciated," the information says.
