The 18th annual meeting of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission is being held in Astana.

According to Oxu.Az citing Report, the event is attended by delegations from member countries, officials of the TRACECA Permanent Secretariat, international organizations, and partners.

The meeting discusses the development of international transport corridors, strengthening the transit potential of regional countries, and expanding cooperation under the TRACECA program.

The agenda also includes the handover of the chairmanship of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission to Kazakhstan, speeches by delegation heads, signing of documents on transit and transport cooperation, and the election of the Secretary General of the organization's Permanent Secretariat.

TRACECA is an internationally recognized program uniting 14 states that have signed the Basic Multilateral Agreement on International Transport for the Development of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia Corridor. These include Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine.
