Germany is preparing to treat a U.S. citizen who contracted Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a health ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday.
U.S. authorities asked the German government for assistance. Arrangements are being made to admit and treat the patient in Germany.
Germany has a network of experts for highly infectious diseases. The foreign ministry, Robert Koch Institute and Charite hospital declined to comment.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed an American tested positive for Ebola while working in DRC. The patient is being moved to Germany for treatment.
