Amil Surkhayev was sentenced to 14 years in prison by the Sumgayit Heavy Crimes Court for murder and illegal weapons possession.
According to the indictment, Surkhayev sought revenge for his brother Ruslan, who was killed by MMA coach Orkhan Hajiyev in 2020.
Surkhayev said insulting comments about his brother on social media fueled his desire for revenge.
He followed Hajiyev for several days and shot him from close range after he was alone.
In court, Surkhayev stated he felt no remorse, saying, "No man can tolerate insults written about his brother."
Hajiyev had been sentenced to 1.5 years for killing Ruslan Surkhayev in 2020 but was released due to time served.
