A well-known fitness trainer in Baku, Anar Mirbabayev, has been found guilty of drug possession. Police seized a large amount of methamphetamine during a raid at his gym.
The 44-year-old faced trial at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes and was convicted under Article 234.1-1 of the Criminal Code for illegal possession of drugs without intent to sell. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison, but the sentence was postponed until his two young children reach the age of 14. Mirbabayev was released from the courtroom.
The operation, conducted by the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, uncovered a substantial quantity of "pati" (methamphetamine) hidden in the gym. Reports indicate that among his clients were many celebrities.
During the trial, it was also revealed that his wife had left him, abandoning their two children, and they have since divorced.
