According to Oxu.Az, citing Billboard, the group outperformed nominees like Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, and Sabrina Carpenter.

The event opened with BTS performing their song 'Hooligan.'

The American Music Awards were established in 1973 as an alternative to the Grammys, with winners determined by online voting.
