A UN official reported at the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku that one in four people worldwide live in informal settlements or slums.
Guy Bernard Ryder, Assistant Secretary-General for Policy, stressed that the New Urban Agenda was adopted to address these challenges and requires renewed political will for implementation.
He added that through the Pact for the Future, member states committed to ensuring adequate housing for all and supporting developing countries in sustainable urban development.
