Zar village in the Kalbajar district is one of the modern settlements being rebuilt in the liberated territories. Located approximately 2400 meters above sea level, this ancient village is known for its mountainous terrain, rich nature, and strategic position. The foundation of the village was laid on August 25, 2023, by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.
According to Nuranə Babayeva, head of the Press Service Department of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service in the Kalbajar district, Zar village is designed as a settlement of socio-economic and strategic importance. A total of 855 families are expected to settle here, with over 243 hectares allocated for the village. The project is developed with a 20-year development perspective. In the first phase, 547 families are planned to be relocated.
Modern social infrastructure is being created in the village, including a school for 528 students, a kindergarten for 100 children, modern street lighting, and extensive landscaping. Employment and sustainable living environment are priorities. "Green energy" will be used for lighting houses and streets. Zar village is located approximately 26 km from the center of Kalbajar city.
