This year, Ashura Day falls on June 25. Theologian Samid Guliyev announced this.

June 16 marks the first day of Muharram in Azerbaijan. This date also begins the year 1448 in the Islamic lunar calendar.

Muharram holds special significance in Islamic history, associated with spirituality, sacrifice, and patience.

Ashura Day commemorates the Karbala tragedy, where Imam Hussein and his companions were martyred for justice.

In Azerbaijan, ceremonies are held in mosques throughout Muharram. Believers honor the martyrs of Karbala.
