The state has decided that parking on Sundays should be free. Anyone demanding money from drivers on that day is acting illegally, regardless of whether they wear a vest.
Anar Rzayev, chairman of the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), said the new parking model in Baku has brought positive results. Electronic systems have made parking more orderly, reducing illegal parking and fines.
Rzayev addressed the issue of individuals illegally demanding payments on Sundays. "This is just an unjustified demand for money. Citizens should report such cases to law enforcement. 'AzParking' staff regularly conduct awareness campaigns. Most citizens now know Sunday parking is free, and demanding payment is illegal."
The ANA head warned that those demanding illegal parking fees face serious penalties, including high fines and even administrative arrest. Law enforcement is taking appropriate measures.
